Peacefully in his sleep after a long illness, at home. Predeceased by his wife Aileen (nee Sillery), his parents James & Maureen & sister Maria. Beloved dad of Stephen, Helena & Joanne & treasured grandad of Jack, Rachael, Maya, Abbie, Lily, Sophie, Ruby & Myla, he will be sadly missed by his son, daughters, sons in law Stephen & Ian, grandchildren, brothers Shay, Tom & Andy and sisters Catherine, Muriel & Christine, extended family & friends.

John will be reposing at McCrea’s Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Wicklow Town (A67E003) this Thursday evening 15th May from 5.00pm to 8.00pm.

The funeral cortège will leave from the family home on St. Patrick’s Avenue on Friday morning at 11.30am walking to St. Patrick’s Church, arriving for Funeral Mass at 12.00 noon, which can also be viewed by clicking on John’s Funeral Mass after which John will be laid to rest in Rathnew Cemetery.

Late of C Coy 21st Infantry Battalion, retired Company Commander with 41 years service, and late of the Construction Industry Federation.

Peacefully following a long illness bravely borne, surrounded by loving family, in the compassionate care of St Vincent’s University Hospital, on Friday 2nd May 2025.Pre-deceased by his son Patrick, brother John and his parents James and Joan. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife Winifred (nee Lord), his daughters Fiona, Siobhan and Miriam, his beloved grandchildren Anna, Isobel and Patrick, his sisters Lena, Maureen and Joan, his brothers PJ, Seamus, and Joseph, son in law Cathal, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Special thanks to all those who came to spend time with Patrick and his family in his final days. Thanks to the staff of the Sugarloaf Nursing Home for their care in the past months.

Loving mother of Mary, Matt and Marty and adored grandmother of Jessie, Sarah, Áine, Georga, Rebecca, David, Isabelle and Hazel and great grandmother of Bobby and Elsie. Sadly missed by her family, daughter in law Sandra, extended family and many friends.

Removal from the family home on Saturday morning at 8.45am at walking pace via Market Square and Main Street to St Patrick’s Church arriving for funeral Mass at 9.15am after which Veronica will be laid to rest with George in Rathnew Cemetery. Máire Murphy née Ward of Rahaval House, Redcross who passed away peacefully in her 99th year on Friday 25th April 2025 in the company of her family at St Vincent’s University Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved husband Patrick, parents William and Catherine and siblings Malachy, John, Carmel, Theresa and Eilish. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Padraig (O’Murachú), daughter Fidelma (Downes), sisters Kay Doyle and Rosaleen Connolly and by her adored grandchildren Clíodhna, Aisling, Darragh, Rían, Aoife and Róisín, daughter in law Deirdre, son in law Paul, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Siobhan O’Connor née Farrell of Mount Carmel, Wicklow Town and formerly Rathnew who passed away on Wednesday 23rd April 2025 peacefully surrounded by her family at the Mater Hospital. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Stella and brother Patrick. Lovingly remembered by her husband Manus, sons Charles, Manus Jnr and Rory and by her grandchildren Chloe, Sophie, Jack and Michael, siblings Eamon, Gerard and Mary, daughter in law Ciara, brother in law Jimmy, sister in law Margaret, extended family and friends.

Bridget Gormley née O’Reilly of Wicklow Heights, Wicklow Town and formerly Rory O’Connor Place Arklow who passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at St Vincent’s University Hospital on Thursday 27th March 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Dearly loved wife and best friend of Shay for 63 years and much loved mother of Mary, Bridgeen, James, Shane, Warren and Natalie. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters Anna and Kathleen and by her extended family and friends. Predeceased by her loving parents Bridget and Michael John O’Reilly and siblings Mona, Mickey, Peter, Tom and Sean.
