Safeguarding Newsletter and Safegurading Sunday Sept 2025

SAFEGUARDING

Safeguarding is all the things we do to ensure that children and vulnerable adults are protected from harm. The Archdiocese of Dublin values and encourages the participation of children and young people in Parish Liturgies and in Diocesan activities.

Each Parish has safeguarding representatives who ensure that diocesan safeguarding policies and practices are followed. Safeguarding is about creating an environment which facilitates such involvement so that all can grow strong in their faith as they experience the love of Jesus in his Church. Everyone who ministers in the Parish is a representative of the Church and must observe safeguarding practices and guidelines. We ensure that all our volunteers are compliant with this law.

Pope Francis said: “Families need to know that the Church is making every effort to protect their children. They should also know that they have every right to turn to the Church with full confidence for it is a safe and secure home”.

We need to constantly remind ourselves of the importance of following safeguarding procedures and good practice guidelines. It is not an optional extra. Anyone concerned about the safety or welfare of children or vulnerable adults should contact the Diocesan Safeguarding and Protection Service, the H.S.E. or in an emergency, the Gardai. These details are displayed on the Notice boards in all churches in the St Mantan Pastoral area.
